Electromobility: with Vianeo, ENGIE focuses on the destination sector

As electric mobility continues to develop, ENGIE Vianeo wants to focus its efforts on destination infrastructure car parks.

In 2023, ENGIE is launching ENGIE Vianeo: a brand designed to meet the growing needs of electric car users. At a time when electric mobility is booming and the network is being rolled out across France, ENGIE Vianeo aims to step up its efforts in destination car parks, i.e. at hotels, restaurants and supermarkets.

At a time when the deployment of recharging points is a major challenge, these locations, where users are likely to park for a short time, represent an essential lever in achieving this objective. Eventually, this destination market could account for 1/3 of ENGIE Vianeo’s business.

The destination sector, an opportunity to be seized

It has to be said that the regulatory context is quite favourable: under the LOM law, owners of public car parks are obliged to set aside 5% of their surface area for electric vehicles and appropriate recharging facilities. By investing in this “destination” sector, ENGIE Vianeo is part of this dynamic and is enabling its partners to meet their obligations and play a part in this low-carbon mobility by opening up its infrastructures to outside users. ENGIE Vianeo is responsible for all stages of development (feasibility studies, station design, installation of charging points, maintenance, etc.).

Deployment prospects

The Group’s stated ambition is to have 12,000 charging points by 2025. To date, 4,200 charging points are being installed in B&B Hotels. The Domaines Center Parcs in France will be equipped from 2024 and many other partnerships are being studied.

For Didier Liautaud, Managing Director of ENGIE Vianeo, it is by relying “on all the players and all the resources at our disposal that we will be able to win the battle for sustainable mobility and the energy transition”.
